Congrats to Kyle for taking 2nd and Jayson on his 4th place finish in the C race at Snowball Crit #1 held at the VA Beach Sportsplex new criterium course. Danny got caught behind a wreck (but he kept the rubber side down) on the final laps to get him seperated from the pack and Dave led the race off with some strong tempo riding in the front.

In the B race, Shawn picked up 6th and Jimmy a 9th. Amos and Andy also scored top 20s. The race also included strong riding by the rest of the team which included Chris K, Chris G and Mitch who all finished in the pack. Mitch also doubled up by riding the A race.

Under the direction of Buena Peacock Henry Advertising and Design and Veronica Dana Photography, six team members posed for the camera at the Great Dismal Swamp Trail in Chesapeake. The photos taken will be part of the www.visitchesapeake.com website.

If you are not on the team's email list, post your email on the comments or contact someone on the team for details.

The team is co-sponsoring a the York River Off Road Duathlon. We have committed to provide volunteers to support this race. Come out and support the team and the race on October 21 (volunteers needed on the 20th as well). Bring your mountain bike and get the chance to preride the great trails of York River State Park. Contact me for volunteer info.

And you thought your road race season was over. Dust off that bike, leave that cross bike at home and do some late season races. Tidewater Bike Racing Club just announced two races on the 23th and 30th of September. Get in those mass starts in for your CAT4 upgrade or come out to see what you left in the tank after this season.

If you're not receiving team emails from the team message board, let me know and I'll add you to the distro.nPlusOnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785899524296082350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8142198716431116204.post-24530820431521439432007-08-26T19:40:00.000-05:002007-08-27T17:56:34.964-05:002007 Race Results

2007 Race Results
Skinny Steve picked up a 3rd.

Kyle started the great placings by the young guns by grabbing a 3rd in the Jrs race.

With Mr. B and Manimal Cat'n up earlier this year, Chris K. has made the jump and Joe Y. should have his request back soon (if he sent it in). I believe Chris G. also upgraded to round out a solid 4 squad. I have 11 races in and will probably submit my upgrade soon so Mitch can have some company in the 40+ races.

I've been slacking on the race reports but check out Shawn's and Steve's blog for thier reports of the Bryan Park race. I have a report on the GFTL race on my blog. Check them out.

Have a good and safe 4th of July and get ready for some local races in P-town and the 'peake on the 14th and 15th.nPlusOnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785899524296082350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8142198716431116204.post-3927151958771344752007-06-25T16:28:00.000-05:002007-06-25T16:59:55.715-05:00Almost here!Everyone, it's been a long and rough road for these team kits, but they're almost here. Everytime I try to help out the team and do this clothing order, I get harrased about it by fellow workers. Fun! In the end, all the crap I get will be worth it and the team will look "HOT" at every cycling event. A good looking team must mean that they represent a good shop. That's my purpose! MY buddy Evan from champion systems said that our order will be shipping out in less than a month. This means that the other 50% of the total cost must be paid off so they can ship our stuff. Some of you have paid the full cost of your shorts and others have paid half. If you know what you've paid, come in to pay the rest and if you've forgot, i'll go through everything and give you a call to remind you. When the stuff comes in, we'll organize a race team meeting to distribute the kits everyone ordered. we'll also have to get a race team photo for both shops-something we haven't done in a while. See you guys around. And thanks for your patients.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8142198716431116204.post-23936009741084569572007-06-13T10:58:00.000-05:002007-06-14T14:44:32.626-05:00Amphibious Assault and PLT #1It's been awhile since some of us raced so there haven't been many updates. With the exception of Mitch and Chris heading down the Fayetteville on Memorial Day (Chris with a 5th in the CAT 5 RR) and Joe slogging it out at the TS Barry TCC Crit, most of us didn't pin any numbers on the jersey.

The CAT 5 race kicked off at later than the 0800 start due to some delay at the Gate of the base. They went from not checking IDs when I came thru the gate at 0645 to a full car search after that. The race didn't see any metal for once in a race. The AAB guys took a 8th (Chris K), 9th (Joe) and 11th (Albe). Got some team points and some individual BAR points but mostly got that mass race start to make them one step closer to a CAT up to a 4.
The CAT 4 guys fielded a team with Mitch, Shawn, Fishsticks, and Mike L. Shawn was up to his crafty racing again and picked up a 4th (and $15). Mike attacked with a few laps to go but the strong wind made it hard for anything to stick. There was some carnage from the pics that I saw (young Elliot from Fat Frogs) but the best part (not in this guys' viewpoint however) was when this happened on the final turn. (Read more about it on his blog)
The CAT 3 had Andy representing the AAB jersey. He picked up a 14th.

The next crit on the VA Cycling schedule is the Bryan Park Circuit race. Good luck to those that registered early before the 4 and 5 races were closed.

The Peter L. Teeuwen Time Trial #1
There were plenty of AAB racers in this packed TT race around our normal training route. Shawn, Amos, Mike L, Chuck, Fishsticks, Mike Brown, Chris K, Rob and Albe did the race against the clock. In Shawn and Amos' case it was race against each other where Amos picked off Shawn by a close 16 seconds. The official results aren't posted yet but Mike L (52:something) and Mitch (53:46) should be good enough for a top 10 in the 4s. Rob and Chris posted somewhere in the 55s. But with all the tri boys showing up only on TT race day in the CAT 5 race, those good times makes it harder to score a top 15. Albe and Brownie posted around the 1:00 mark.

Saturday is the State Time Trial Championship up in Stoney Creek.

Check the race schedule as they have added more races. Notably will be the Tour de Port and Tour de Peake on July 14/15. Back to P-town for some racing and around the Taj Mahal (aka Chesapeake Govt Building). It's so nice to have so many races in this area.nPlusOnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785899524296082350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8142198716431116204.post-71222547062359867332007-05-15T09:19:00.000-05:002007-05-15T09:21:46.725-05:00Manimal reporting for footwearEveryone, the Sidi shoes are here! come get em!

It was windy day for the race but eveyone had to suffer the same conditions. It actually let up for the 4 race compared to earlier races. The wind didn't hamper the fans and alot of folks stuck around to watch the races today. Tripower did a great job on today's event.
Cat 5 Report - Everybody stayed upright finally for a race. The field quickly got spread out on the 2nd lap and if you weren't in the lead group it would have made a hard bridge to get there. Joe and Chris G were in the second group and managed to get a top 10 finish. Mikes (Henderson and Brown) as well as Chris K and Albe finished in the 20s. A familiar training ride face and unofficial AAB racer Jimmy Parrot picked up a 3rd. We need to get him a jersey

Cat 4 Report - Mr. B and Manimal made their upgrade debut along with the veteran 4s of Amos, Shawn, Mitch and Fishsticks. This was another fast start to the race that had the field spread by lap 4. The lead group was established with Steven consistently in the 1st thru 4th wheel and countering any moves. The race came down to a field sprint with the lead pack and Steven picked up a 2nd. Congrats Steven.

AAB Racing had a good turnout for the local Snowball crit and pulled out a victory on the B race - congrats Mike.
It was a beautiful day to race. Beautiful day for racing, 70's with a slight breeze and low humidity on the campus of Christopher Newport University of off Warwick Blvd and just down the street from Michael Vick's High School (Warwick HS).

Let's start with the CAT 5. Manimal vs. Leopard (you'd have to have been there). Both strong riders. It came down to the final turn where the Manimal got him on the inside and took a 5 bike length win. Congratulations to Skinny Steven for pulling out another victory and scoring points for the team. Mike Brown and Joe Younkin finished in the pack but haven't seen the official results to see if they got in the top 15. Of course what's a CAT 5 race without carnage. On the final lap, two guys (Team Nature's Path and Casey) went down hard. Hope they get better soon.

CAT 4 had a good showing of AAB teammates in the race. The pace was fast and a 3 man breakaway held their 20+ second gap. There was crash on the final few laps that spread the field out farther and Mitch blew a tire on the second to last lap.

CAT 3 had Andy finishing in the pack. There was a 2 man breakaway that stuck.

I'll post official results when I see them.
nPlusOnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09785899524296082350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8142198716431116204.post-689587967567787782007-04-13T21:35:00.000-05:002007-04-13T21:51:20.051-05:00Videos For Your Wet Sunday Trainer WorkoutHere's a couple of videos to watch during the Nor'easter that's coming our way Sunday.

Ciclismo Cross Race last fall. About halfway thru the first video you'll see a AAB rider with his bike down and jumping over the race tape. It's a safe bet that was Fishsticks. The second video has a few more shots of Fishsticks (and his Robbie Mcewan head-bobbin' sprint at the end) and some of either Rob or Mike.

Send me(Steven) or Rob an email or come up to the shop to make payment-same process as the shorts. Most of the team are getting the genius 5.5 carbon or the genius 5. Since we have a team deal with Sidi, I cant give out our prices on here, but i'm sure everyone has a good idea on what they are since we've viewed them before.
